Golden Bottle Awards 2020 – Wine Award List Revealed
Guangzhou, October 15th, 2020
The 12th anniversary of the Golden Bottle Awards were held in Guangzhou，China. The competition involved eighteen wine judges, a full day of wine tasting and resulted in the awarding of 122 medals including 5 Golden Bottle Awards, 7 Gold Awards, 28 Silver Awards and 82 Bronze Awards.
EMW participated with submissions from a selection of international wineries and we are proud to announce 18 wines received recognition of excellence. EMW represented wineries won one Golden Bottle Award (the top award for the competition and one of only five wines receiving such recognition), one Gold Award, six Silver Awards, and ten Bronze Awards. Two star performers of the competition were the PIKES “Traditionale” Riesling from Australia and JOHN DUVAL Reserve SGM also from Australia. EMW and Sake Producer Mutsu-Hassen from Aomori Prefecture Sign Exclusive Import and Distribution Agreement for Mainland China and Macau
2020/08/24, Shanghai - EMW Fine Wines (Shanghai) Limited (EMW) and Hachinohe Shuzo Co., Ltd (Mutsu-Hassen), the Aomori Prefecture Sake brewer, signed an exclusive agreement for import and distribution in Mainland China and Macau.
“Our sake brewery was founded in 1775 and is located near the fishing port in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. The city has a population of only 220,000 and is located in the northernmost part of the main island of Honshu. Although it is a brewery with a long history, we expect that a wide range of people, especially young people in their 20s and 30s, full of energy, will enjoy our Sake,” said Komai Hideyuki, Chairman of Mutsu-Hassen. “Mutsu-Hassen offers a wide range of Sakes so that you can find Sake that suits not only Japanese food but also Chinese food, French food, Italian food, and more. Also, when you have the opportunity to visit Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture you will experience the culture of Japan, along with the taste and charm of our sake. About Mutsu-Hassen
The legend of the Eight Immortals (the Eight Drunken Immortals), or Hassen in Japanese, originated in ancient China and has been passed down to the present day. Stories about the Eight Immortals and their earthly exploits often detail the delightful ways in which they enjoyed drinking their favorite wine and spirits. This sake is named “Mutsu-Hassen”, which means the Eight Drunken Immortals of Tohoku, after this legend. Sake lovers and connoisseurs can savor and enjoy this rich and full-flavored sake the brewery is famous for producing. Mutsu is the ancient name of Aomori area meaning the brand is rooted from Aomori area.

Akita Prefecture is one of the most indispensable origins for sake, not only because of its excellent quality, but also for the fact that each sake is unique. Akita Prefecture has always been known as the “Beautiful Sake Kingdom, Best Rice from Akita”. It is also the origin of Yeast No.6, the earliest yet still existing Ginjo yeast. About Takashimizu
Takashimizu is the famous brand of Sake produced by the Akita Shurui Seizoh Co.,Ltd. (Akita Shurui). The company was formed after the World War II by merging 12 small craft breweries in the area to overcome the challenging economic conditions of the time.
Since this time it has risen to become one of the leading Sake producers from Akita Prefecture. They have been awarded a Gold Medal at the Annual Japan New Sake Awards for 15 consecutive years. This is the 2nd best performance of any brewery.
Akita Prefecture is famous for being the home to Japan’s best table rice and historically produces many highly awarded Sakes. It is also the origin of the #6 Association Yeast which has become the most important yeast for the production of Ginjo type Sake.
