EMW Partners with KOOYONG in Greater China
EMW Fine Wines is delighted to announce the exclusive partnership for Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau with Kooyong, one of the best producers from Mornington Peninsula, Australia. With a reputation for the extraordinary expression of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Kooyong offers a strong Australian portfolio to all our customers.
Kooyong
Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Kooyong is situated in the Mornington Peninsula, owned and operated by the Gjergja family. All wines are entirely domain grown, vinified and bottled. The Gjergja family and their winemaking team have crafted a reputation for the very best representations of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The first vintage only made in 2001 but they have climbed to the top of Australia’s quality tree.
Expressing Terroir
The winemaking philosophy is to best preserve the inherent characteristics present in the fruit while making wines of elegance, finesse, texture, complexity and structure. They believe that all of our wines should convey a sense of the place and the season in which they were grown.
The vineyard is split into five individual parcels with a variety of clones planted on very different soils, and everything is done to express the natural characteristics of each site in its resultant wine. Their biological farming system is driven by the belief that the health of our vineyard soils, and thus vines, underpin wine quality. Their vineyards are always hand-pruned, shoot thinned, shoot positioned and crop thinned. All our fruit is handpicked.

We're celebrating today! The 2014 Plexus Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre has just taken out #34 in Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2016!
A great thing for the Barossa is that we have the oldest vineyards in the world of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre. Some of the vineyards I use of Grenache and Mourvedre are over 100 years old. We have no phylloxera in the Barossa, and indeed South Australia, so all these old vineyards are planted on their own roots.
------ JOHN DUVAL
"A sophisticated, spicy mix of date bread, cherry compote and clove flavors. Plump and velvety, with persistence and harmony on the finish. Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2026. "
